Access HollywoodLOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Gwyneth Paltrow and her Coldplay rocker husband Chris Martin are not fond of the stepping out in public together, which has lead to speculation that the couple is having marriage problems.
Not true, says Gwyneth.

The couple's lack of time in the spotlight together is a choice they have made together.
"It doesn't behoove us to be a public couple," Gwyneth told the U.K. edition of ELLE in their March issue. "He certainly doesn't want to be that."

The actress told the British mag that photographers hoping to snap a shot of the couple together on the red carpet better not hold their breath.
"We've never ever walked down a red carpet together, we never will," she continued. "If people think that that means we're not together, then - ha ha ha! - so be it."
Despite speculation over their marriage, Gwyneth told ELLE U.K. that her husband and his music has helped her through the death of her father, Bruce Paltrow, who died in October 2002.

"It's so hard for me to listen to some of those songs," the actress said of her husband's songs, "Swallowed" and "Fix You." "I'm amazed [Chris] stuck with me [following my father's death,] because I was a wreck. I can't believe that he did."
Gwyneth and Chris were able to endure their hardships and have two children together, Apple, 4, and Moses, 2, for whom the actress says she has altered her personal habits.
"The last cigarette I smoked was the day I found out I was pregnant with Apple," she said. "I'm so p----- off it gives you cancer. But then, once you have children, if you've witnessed a death like I did with my father, you just can't. But I've decided that when I'm about 70 I'm going to start smoking again. Why not? I can't wait!'
In more Gwyneth news, the actress also responded to critics of her new Web site, GOOP.
I saw this blog of people writing horrible things about me and, for a second, your ego is so wounded," the 36-year-old actress said.
"How could people hate me, my intentions or what I'm trying to do?" Gwyneth said. "I'm a good person and I'm trying to put good things into the world."
